Our Story
We connect farmers directly to the world.
Common Sense Trading was established by Aaron and Yeni Lagias in 2019 with humble beginnings as vanilla bean suppliers. Our aim was to connect farmers in the region directly to local and international markets — maximising their global reach and profit, while giving buyers a connection to the growers and visibility in the supply chain.

We quickly became known and trusted internationally for our premium vanilla and transparent approach. As demand grew and our relationships evolved, our offering expanded to include a wide range of spices, herbs, specialty ingredients, and foods and beverages.

Today we operate distribution warehouses in both Bali, Indonesia and Melbourne, Australia, supplying a long list of customers around the world.

Who We Are
Direct trade. Real relationships. Real integrity.
We aim to work directly with the same growers each year — and in several cases, farms we have personally invested in. This creates stability and consistency for our customers, as well as greater quality and transparency at every step.

For our farmer partners, we encourage value-adding before sale, ensuring all farmers remain sustainable and profitable, with a constant focus on improving quality and productivity.

We pride ourselves on customer service, competitive prices, and a commitment to delivering orders anywhere in the world within several business days. Our products are processed, handled and packed to the highest international food standards — building long-term relationships with satisfied buyers worldwide.
Mission
To do business with purpose — for people, planet, and prosperity.
Common Sense Trading is our global export business, connecting Indonesian farmers to premium buyers around the world. Having become a trusted name in the industry, we now export a curated range of vanilla, cacao, coffee and coconut sugar.
We are grounded in Indonesia — and connected to the world.

The Founders
Aaron & Yeni Lagias.
Common Sense was founded in 2019 by Aaron and Yeni Lagias — sharing a vision for transparent, ethical trade from the ground up. Yeni brought deep knowledge of farming systems and village life. Aaron brought years of experience in Australia's specialty coffee and hospitality scene.

Together, they began connecting vanilla farmers in Bali with global buyers — personally investing in quality, infrastructure, and long-term partnerships.

Today, their mission has grown beyond vanilla — but the heart remains the same: real people, real relationships, and real integrity in everything they do.

Rp 60M
raised in our first annual run
Our very first Run for the Farmers raised 60,000,000 Rupiah — funding a vital water source for the farmers of Perean village. A day filled with joy, energy and unity, with participants of all ages joining to support sustainable agriculture.

The community has since entrusted us with one of the abandoned buildings at the farm, which we're transforming into an Educational Centre and Hub for the farmers of Perean — a gathering place for learning, collaboration and empowerment.

Run for the Farmers is now an annual tradition. See you at the next one — bigger, better, stronger.
